All about Quizziz! ✍️📝💯
What's up, Joyers? 🤩 I'm so excited to have you again here! I hope that you’re doing great lately. 😊
As I said in my first introduction blog that I’ll share my experience in using tools for English Language Teaching (ELT), and it will be the first blog for me to fulfill that. 😉
I wanna share all things I know about
Quizziz. Let’s just get into it! 😆
Quizziz. What an interesting name, isn’t it? 🤭😁It is a game-based
learning software which is originated in India and was established in 2015 by
Ankit Gupta and Deepak Joy Cheenath. It is a very well-known software having been being used across 120 countries by over 75 million people. Even, we can
say that its role is ubiquitous in the US since 86% of US schools have been
using it. Then, to get it, we can easily download it from either Google Play or
App Store.
Moreover, to use it, firstly, you need to log in to it. You may use your Google account, phone number, or email. Then, you’ll see three choices showing your purpose in using it. There are school, work, or personal use. Here, as this blog is related to education, I’ll explain what will happen if you click the “school”. After clicking on that, you’ll need to choose your role: a student, a teacher, or an administrator. Next, choose “teacher” and you’ll need to choose gadget permission for you students in class. That’s the last one, and ... Tada! You’ll directly get into your homepage in Quizziz. That’s a piece of cake, isn’t it? From now on, you can start creating your quizzes in this app. You may choose whatever you like from abundant question types there, such as multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, reorder, drag-and-drop, matching, graphing, and even math questions with symbols.
Now, I wanna spill out the features of Quizziz. It’s a very lit thing, you know! Besides its function to create online quizzes with various question types, teachers can also use it to create slideshow presentations. Even, we can import the slides from our Google Drive. The quizzes created there can also be integrated into online classes like the Google Classroom. Then, the best feature of this app is we can still use it although our students don’t use gadgets in class. We can show the quiz questions through the screen projector, and we can share the printed Q-cards showing the multiple choices to our students. The card will show different answers when it is flipped, and we can scan their answers so they’ll be inputted into the app. Its second-best feature is that we can get questions made by the AI (artificial intelligence) system as we only need to write the topic, so it can help us to create the quiz more easily. One last thing to remember, not only teachers who can create the quiz, but the students too.
Furthermore, as this app is not a bee’s knees, for me it has
an observable weakness. After clicking the AI feature to create some questions
automatically, I found that the
questions were too easy and basic as it just followed what I wrote in the topic,
like “countable and uncountable noun”. The AI-made questions were about distinguishing the countable and uncountable nouns. However, actually the material can be
more complicated than that like dealing with determiner and measurement unit
names. Therefore, I suggest that the AI should be improved so that it can
create more various and higher-level questions.
Additionally, to make it clear, I’ll show how Quizziz can be
used in a classroom. I’ll share quiz which can be given to Senior High School
students in grade X in the material of countable and uncountable
nouns. This quiz is created based on the material of page 89 and 90 from
Contextual English book for Grade X of Senior High Schools published by Tiga
Serangkai Pustaka Mandiri.
Then, it may be given as an exercise after we teach them
about the countable and uncountable nouns so we can gauge our students comprehension of
the material, especially about the predicate agreement, the uncountable nouns’
unit of measurement, determiners, etc.
Not to forget, here is the quiz link and you may wanna try
it out. https://quizizz.com/admin/quiz/65162f0bce1a2005dfc81457?source=quiz_share
Alright. That’s a wrap for this second blog. I hope that it can be beneficial for you after knowing more about Quizziz. Don't forget to leave some comments below! 😉📖🌟
